Winter Solstice is a time when the sun (s o l) reaches the tropic of Capricorn, marking the official start of winter, no matter where you are in the world. Here, in the northern hemisphere, it represents the shortest day & longest night of the year.
The winter solstice is celebrated in a lot of traditions, most believing it to be a “rebirth” of some sort, generally involving the Sun as the hours of daylight become longer.
Symbolically, the solstice has played an important role in a lot of peoples lives; It is the time of reflection, release and rebirth..
Literally & metaphorically, the solstice is a time to release the dark in order to welcome the sun (light) back in as the days begin to grow brighter.. and longer..
As we celebrate the light, we must also celebrate the dark. The shadows within us cary the wisdom and strength to let the light shine brightly through.. we are in fact, a direct reflection of the universe that surrounds us.
At this Restorative Solstice Celebration you will be invited to reflect, connect & release through:
• music
• mindful breaths
• somatic sensory exploration
• connection
• intention setting
• writing & releasing (through flame)
• solstice spiral
• chocolate
• charcuterie
• herbal tea
WHAT
There will be time and space to nourish our bodies with words, wisdom, mindful breath, music with restorative somatic/sensory exploration, food, tea and heat. We will also allow time for intention setting as we light candles in the solstice spiral and release anything from this year that you no longer want to carry through a burning ceremony.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, pillows/cushions, your favourite mug/journal and anything that will bring you comfort during the sensory exercise.
Everything will be provided, please do not bring any food or beverage with you to this event. Only comfort items such as mugs, journals, pillows, blankets, etc. however, there are mugs, pillows and blankets provided at the event as well if interested.
